Watch Head of State

In this comedy, Chris Rock stars as a government employee who becomes the Democratic nominee for President after the party's top two candidates are killed in a plane crash. At first it seems unlikely that Rock's character has much of a chance, but soon it becomes apparent that the public can relate to his straight-talking style of campaigning. He finds out, too, that lying about his opponent pays big dividends, and his political fortunes begin to soar. The film was both co-written and directed by Rock. It was released in theaters in May 2003 to mostly negative reviews.
