Highlander

"There can be only one."

In a world of fighting and violence only a few have the pleasure of being able to live forever--at least until they lose their heads. Highlander, Connor MacLeod, is such a person. He lived as a simple farmer and a soldier on the side, in the middle ages in Scotland. He protected his countryside with bravery and skill until he was run through by an opposing fighter. His family and friends though he was dead, but he woke up, completely healed, just to be banished by his clan.

Only his beautiful wife--Heather--was able to handle his new found skill to live through anything until a Spaniard came to teach him the ways of the "immortal". The friendly duo overcame challenges and fought hard to make MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) a strong adversary to the evil immortals who would look to make a trophy of his cranium.

As time continued forward the worst of the immortals, Kurgan (Clancy Brown) came to the place where MacLeod, Ramirez (Sean Connery) and Heather were living in the Scottish Highlands. He attacked Heather and then tried to do the same with Ramirez and MacLeod.

Fast-forward to 1986, MacLeod is a successful antiques dealer. He finds that he needs to protect himself on occasion from the immortals because they believe 'there can be only one'. Some friendly and others not so friendly, they battle on the streets of modern cities, using ancient battle weapons and expensive and rare Japanese swords.

Through the centuries of flashbacks the immortals have been fighting day and night to become the only one to acquire the full enlightenment of the 'quickening' when the final immortal left standing learns all the knowledge of the universe. Power like this in the wrong hands is the last thing MacLeod wants and will fight, literally, to the death to keep this power from being possessed by Kurgan.

This movie is rated R due to action violence, some implied sexual acts, and language not suited for younger audiences.
