Hot Tub Time Machine

"Kick some past"

Hot Tub Time Machine is about a group of friends who embark on a trip to reconnect with their past in an attempt to save their friend from his unhappiness and dissatisfaction in life. After Lou tries to commit suicide by running his car exhaust in his garage, the friends reunite after time apart at the hospital. The other two main characters find themselves in the same boat. A girlfriend has recently dumped one, and the other character is working at a pet store after giving up on his dreams to be a musician. The trio meets in the hospital and decides to cheer their friend up by taking him on a trip to Kodiak Valley Ski Resort, where they had previously had great memories when they were adolescents.

Adam decides to take his nephew on the trip with them as well, and the group takes off for a weekend to the ski resort that they had loved so much as kids. When they get there they are shocked by what they find. The ski resort appears run down and is nothing like the magical place that they remember. Despite the appearance they decide to make the best of it, and get drunk in the hot tub outside their room.

After seemingly passing out in the hot tub, the group wakes up in the morning and discovers they appear as their younger selves when they look in the mirror. The group theorizes that they must have gone back in time somehow when they were in the hot tub, and things are exactly as it had been from a ski trip in their past. The group of friends decides that they must do exactly what they had done in the past in order to avoid altering the future. However, each one of them finds it difficult to recreate the events as they happened, and each of them deviates from their intentions.

Hot Tub Time Machine is a movie about how things change as we go through life, and about reconnecting with the ones that we love and care about. The movie shows friends realizing their lives have not turned out the way they once wished, and portrays their attempts to readjust their futures in an effort to achieve happiness.
