How I Won the War

""There's been some marvelous advances in surgery, thanks to war!""

How I Won the War is a 1967 comedy heavily rooted in the counterculture of the ‘60s. Its main claim to fame is that it stars John Lennon in his only non-musical film role. The movie is based on a novel by Patrick Ryan. Michael Crawford plays a British officer named Lieutenant Earnest Goodbody. Lt. Goodbody is well-intentioned but seriously inept. His platoon hates him and tries repeatedly to get rid of him. The movie was not well received by the critics. One of its weaknesses is that it is a mixed jumble of movie genres
