"In the Future, not everyone is who they seem to be."

Imposter is about Spencer Olham, a weapons designer who is on the run from the military. The Earth is at war with a hostile alien civilization. The aliens are using replicas of humans to infiltrate Earth and cause chaos. Each replicant is implanted with a small nuclear bomb in its heart, which is set to detonate at a certain time and destroy everything around the replicant. The military intercepts a signal indicating that the real Spencer has been killed and that the replicant was supposed to try and blow up the Chancellor. Spencer knows for a fact that this is not true and tries to elude capture. Ultimately, the military tracks Spencer down and arrests him. Major Hathaway is set to perform a procedure on Spencer to prove he is a replicant but Spencer manages to get away. He tries to find his wife Maya, who is a hospital administrator. Spencer wants to perform a scan on himself to find out if he is real or an imposter. Unfortunately, the military shows up before Spencer can complete the scan so he must keep running. Maya joins him as he heads to a forest that is near an alien crash site. Major Hathaway has continued to pursue Spencer, leading to a stand off in the forest that once and for all proves whether Spencer is who he says he is or is an imposter. Imposter takes a close look at how we perceive ourselves and if a person can truly know everything about himself. Spencer is initially convinced he is real, but the chaos around him leads him to have some doubts. He knows that if he is a replicant, he can harm those around him, so he is continually compelled to prove himself. The movie also stresses the importance of having an identity in a time of crisis and making sure a person holds on to his or her individuality, as it is one of the things that makes humans unique.
