In the Company of Men

"Are all men bastards...or just misunderstood?"

"In the Company of Men," an independent Canadian-American film, is a darkly-comic and mean depiction of male competition and insecurity. Two angry executives leave home for a training program that will last for weeks. They are handsome, confident Chad and meek, average-looking Howard, a man who was emotionally wounded in his last relationship. As Chad drops misogynistic lines and Howard laps them up like brilliant truths, Chad suggests they have a bit of fun by competing for a female subordinate who is deaf. Christine certainly doesn't know what's going on, and Howard misses the memo, too. The result is devastating.
