Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is a 1981 action adventure film. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg. Raiders of the Lost Ark features Indiana Jones, an archaeologist who doubles as a teacher, played by Harrison Ford. He starts off going to Peru to find a golden idol, only to have to surrender it to Rene Belloq, another archaeologist and the enemy of Jones in the story, played by Paul Freeman. Later the story has Jones being recruited by the government to retrieve the Ark of the Covenant from where it's hidden before the Nazis do, and along he way he runs into his old girlfriend Marion Ravenwood, played by Karen Allen. Interestingly enough, Marion happens to have a headpiece that is key to finding the Ark in the first place. She eventually joins Jones in his quest to Cairo, Egypt, as does another friend named Sallah, played by John Rhys-Davies.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is first movie in the Indiana Jones series. In addition to Spielberg being the director, George Lucas was the storywriter, while the film was produced by Frank Marshall and Howard Kazanjian.
