Watch Last Train Home

Last Train Home is a documentary film about the lives of migrant workers who continuously live life traveling and working. Throughout springtime in China, millions of migrant workers go home to their families. The film continues to show how they all live trying to overcome such difficult lifestyles. Director Lixin Fan spent several years working on this film to showcase the life of just one family. He follows the Zhangs as they try to live life normally after they have been flown to Guangzhou to work in a factory for nearly two decades.

Since they are considered as a part of the rural poor of China, they leave their only daughter in Huilong while they work in Guangzhou with the chance of seeing their daughter only once a year. The Spring Festival is their daughter's favorite holiday because the parents see her during that specific festival.

The name of the daughter is Qin, and she decides to break free from her rural life as she tries to rebel against her parents' wishes. Because of her parents not being there, she feels hurt and does not like the fact that she only sees them once a year. She decides to get a job somewhere in the city as she leaves her school. As the documentary progresses, you will see how Qin tries to survive all on her own in the city. She does not have the world's easiest job and life, but she survives and finds love for herself and family along the way.

The documentary teaches about the hard life people have to go through in China as many parents sacrifice their families for a better job and life outside of their homeland. There are millions of migrant workers who have to leave their homes for better work, and this family is just one of many who deal with this problem.
