Let the Right One In

"Eli is 12 years old. She’s been 12 for over 200 years and she just moved in next door."

Let the Right One In is a Swedish vampire movie that is as much a coming-of-age tale as it is about blood and guts. Oskar, age 12, is relentlessly bullied by his peers and is relatively friendless--until he meets Eli, the strange new girl in his apartment complex. As the pair grows closer, it becomes clear that Eli is not quite the preteen girl she seems to be. Can the pair's intense friendship survive Oskar's knowledge of Eli's true self? This moody drama is based on the Swedish-language novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. It spawned an English-language remake, Let Me In, which was released in 2010. Let the Right One In earned a whopping 73 awards in the year of its release, including best foreign film at the British Independent Film Awards, top five foreign films from the National Board of Review, and Best Feature at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival.
