Little Miss Marker

"A wildly romantic comedy about a cookie, a bookie, and the kid they bet their hearts on."

This is the remake of the 1934 film that starred Shirley Temple. Gambler Carter was unable to pay his $10 debt to Sorrowful Jones. Carter handed over his 6-year-old daughter as a marker for the bet he couldn't pay. After Carter lost the bet and committed suicide, the kid permanently moved in the gangsters. Another crime boss talked Sorrowful Jones into financing a new gambling place in the home of the crime boss's girlfriend. Amanda planned to use the money from the joint and her race horse to get her family property back. Amanda became fond of Little Miss Marker.
