Watch Madagascar

The animals are gone! A film released by dream works called Madagascar has viewers everywhere laughing out loud. The film was directed by Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath, and it was written by Mark Burton, Eric Darnell, Billy Frock and Tom McGrath. This movie stars Jada Picket Smith, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller and David Schwimmer. The setting of the movie is in the Central Park Zoo located in the heart of Manhattan. The Central Park Zoo is home to several animals including lions, zebras, giraffes, psychotic penguins, snakes and many more. The story is about four best friends: a lion, a giraffe, a hippo and a zebra. The story starts off as the animals begin to celebrate Marty’s tenth birthday. When Marty blows out his ten birthday candles, Alex, Gloria and Melvin tell him to make a wish. Marty didn't think about it too much, he wanted to be run freely in the wild. Then Gloria, Alex and Melvin look at Marty like he has a screw loose, and tell him to wish for something else.

That night, Marty escaped the zoo; planning to get on the train and head to Connecticut. When Alex, Gloria and Melvin find out that Marty made a break for it, they set of to find him. When they find Marty at the train station, the people go wild. The presence of zoo animals set of the police and animal control. The animals where shot with tranquilizers, and the people decided to send them to the wild.

When they awoke, they were all inside of crates, being shipped to a wildlife preserve in Africa. But or some reason, the crates fell off the boat, and the animals fell inside of the big, wide ocean. They were stranded in the ocean, until they finally washed up on shore. They had arrived in Madagascar, an island that is located near Africa. But, the animals thought that they were in the San Diego Zoo. They later meet a tribe of crazy lemurs including the lemur King Julian.

The characters of the movie include:

Alex, the lion: Alex is an egotistical lion who was the main attraction of the central park zoo. He loves eating buckets of steak, and when he gets shipped of to Africa, he becomes very upset with his best friend, Marty.

Marty, the zebra: A day dreamer, Marty always wanted to run free with other zebras. He was set to run away, until he got caught. He is very ingenious and original.

Gloria, the hippo: The girl of the group, Gloria is a sassy-mouthed hippo who has a healthy appetite. She doesn't take any nonsense and she is very reasonable.

Melvin, the Giraffe: A hypochondriac, Melvin is always on medications or feels that something is wrong with him.
