Maverick is a 127-minute Western comedy film that was created in 1994. It is based on the 1950s television series of the same name created by Roy Huggins. It was directed by Richard Donner and written by Williams Goldman. The films main character is Bret Maverick, played by Mel Gibson. Mr. Maverick has the double duty of not only being a card player but also a con artist who will need to use his skills to participate in a high-stakes poker game with a $25,000 entry fee. Unfortunately, Mr. Maverick is about $3,000 short. Bret Maverick will do whatever it takes to make it to the five-card draw poker tournament and show everyone that he is the "best" there is.
