Watch Meet the Parents

Meet the Parents is an American romantic comedy starring Ben Stiller. In the film, Gaylord "Greg" Focker (Ben Stiller), is a Jewish man who works as a male nurse. He is madly in love with his live-in girlfriend, Pam Byrnes (Teri Polo), and is thinking about asking for her hand in marriage. However, Pam comes from an extremely strict family, specifically her father, Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro). Pam has made it known that if Greg were to propose marriage he must get permission from her father first. Greg is contemplating marriage, but has never met Pam's parents, so he is a bit intimidated about asking Jack for his marital blessing.

Pam's sister, Deborah Byrnes (Nicole DeHuff), is getting married, so Pam and Greg are traveling to Pam's parents for the wedding. Greg wants to pounce on this opportunity to finally ask Jack for his blessing. However, when Greg and Pam arrive at the Byrnes residence, Greg immediately knows talking to Jack about anything is not going to be any easy task.

Jack is not your average dad. In fact, Greg soon finds out that Jack is ex-CIA, he even has a lie detector set up in his basement. As Greg tries to impress his future father-in-law, he makes one monumental mistake after another. The tension between the two men finally reaches a boiling point when Jack's beloved cat, Jinxie, comes up missing. Despite their differences, Greg will do anything he feels he has to in order to win Jack over, and earn his approval.

Meet the Parents, which was produced by Universal Pictures, was the recipient of a 2001 People's Choice Award and two MTV Movie Awards for Best Comedic Performance and Best Line from a Movie, which was uttered by Robert De Niro.
