Mother

Mother is a dramatic film from South Korea. It is also sometimes known by the title Woman Requiem. It tells the story of a mother who takes revenge on a group of people that she feels are responsible for the rape and murder of her daughter. Mrs. Hong is the mother, and she has worked hard all her life to raise her daughter, Na-mi. Mrs. Hong wants to protect Na-mi from all the evil in the world. Mrs. Hong kept Na-mi in almost total isolation to make sure nothing bad in the world ever happened to her. Mrs. Hong wants Na-mi to go to college, but the world has other plans. Na-mi is kidnapped and brutally tortured. She is then forced to work in a brothel, selling herself to men. Mrs. Hong manages to find Na-mi and rescue her from her awful situation, but it is too late for Na-mi's emotional state. She is so ashamed by what has happened to her that she commits suicide. Mrs. Hong is devastated and determined to avenge her daughter's honor. She immediately comes up with a plan for revenge and begins to carry it out. Mrs. Hong's plan is incredibly violent. She wants all the men involved in raping Na-mi and making her work in a brother to suffer greatly. She wants them to feel the same amount of pain that she has felt. She decides to torture and kill all of them, and she will not be deterred in her quest for justice. Eventually, she is successful in getting her vengeance against all the men that destroyed her Na-mi's life. Their lives all come to a bloody end. The dramatic film was released in November 1, 1985. It has a running time of 100 minutes. The movie stars Yeo-jeong Ydon and Hye-seong Jeon. It was directed by Cheol-su Park. The film is in Korean with English subtitles.
