Lavishly filmed and with a star studded cast, Murder on the Orient Express stars Albert Finney as Poirot, Martin Balsam as the director of the train company, Jean-Pierre Cassel as the sleeping car conductor, Richard Widmark as Mr. Ratchett a wealthy and mysterious businessman, Anthony Perkins as his personal secretary, Sir John Gielgud as Ratchets’ English valet, Lauren Bacall as Mrs. Hubbard a seemingly scatter brained American socialite, Ingrid Bergman as a nervous Swedish missionary, Michael York as a Hungarian Count and diplomat fiercely protective of his wife played by Jacqueline Bisset, Wendy Hiller as the Princess Dragomiroff a member of Russian royalty with Rachel Roberts playing her personal maid, Sean Connery as Colonel Arbuthnott mysteriously protective of an English school teacher played by Vanessa Redgrave, as well as Denis Quilley as an Italian car salesman and the mysteriously quiet Mr. Hardman played by Colin Blakely.

When one of the passengers is found brutally murdered and the train stuck in a snow bank, with his reputation on the line Hercule Poirot must find the killer and the motive before the snow is cleared and the police arrive.
