"Triumphant in Victory, Bitter in Defeat. He Changed the World, But Lost a Nation."

Directed by Oliver Stone, Nixon is a 1995 movie based on the life of the 37th President of the United States, Richard Milhous Nixon. Serving as President from 1969 to 1974, Nixon was a Republican that also served as Representative and Senator from California and Vice President of the United States from 1953 to 1961. The film focuses on the former President's life from his childhood with a strict, Quaker upbringing to becoming a young man, a football player and fan. It also includes Nixon meeting his future wife, Pat Ryan, his defeat against the envied John F. Kennedy in the 1960 presidential election and his eventual presidency. The film also explores the most important parts of his presidency, including the infamous Watergate scandal and abuse of executive power in the White House which led to his downfall and resignation.

Nixon also portrays the former President's life as a complex and flawed individual who suffered health issues during the scandal including pneumonia and phlebitis. It also implies that both he and his wife abused prescription medication and alcohol.
