Oblivion

"Earth is a memory worth fighting for"

The year is 2077, the earth is devastated by alien warfare and the moon that has been forever a marker and stabilizer of the earth has been destroyed by the aliens. The aliens have caused tsunamis and earthquakes by the destroying of the moon. The Earth’s surface is affected by nuclear fallout and is not habitable for anything that is living. The humans that have survived the Earth’s devastation moved to Saturn’s moon Titan. The aliens are still ravishing the already demolished Earth and mining all its precious resources. The aliens have protector drones to make sure that their already stolen does not get taken back over by humankind. Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) and Victoria Olsen (Andrea Riseborough), are counting the days on Earth until their return to the new home of Titan. Jack Harper is Tech 49 a drone repairman who is stationed on Earth. The alien versus human warfare has gone on for far too long and is a problem for Jack Harper. Jack has haunting memories of his past, which helps the viewer to see a good part of his character. Jack Harper is in constant conflict within himself trying to figure out his existence and his purpose, this does not help his situation when he faced with Tech 52 a clone of himself. Jack and Victoria are partners that are in pursuit to get home and get caught in many action filled situations along the way.

Claudio Miranda wins an Oscar this year for his cinematography from the movie Life of Pi, and uses his talent and work in this film. Director Joseph Kosinski co-wrote the unpublished book under the same name with Arvid Nelson and is famous for the Tron Legacy.

A blockbuster summer film, the special effects and story line are told by many to be really impressive. Kosinski has said, "Oblivion pays homage to the science fiction films of the 1970's." The film has already grossed over 200 million world-wide and counting since the movie was released on April 19, 2013.
