"Sit. Stay. Play Dad."

Dan Rayburn (Played by Robin Williams) and Charlie Reed (played by John Travolta) are inseparable best friends, and co-owners of a sports marketing firm. After being divorced from his wife Vicki (Played by Kelly Preston) for seven years, she now shows up and drops a bomb on Dan: He's a father of twins named Zach (Played by Conner Rayburn) and Emily (Played by Ella Bleu Travolta).

Vicki is off to jail to do work as an environmental activist, and she asks Dan to watch the kids while she does her time. Hopeful that this opportunity may help him get back together with Vicki, he agrees, but only if Charlie helps him. Amongst all this confusion, Dan and Charlie are trying to finish a marketing deal with a Japanese country, which is something they've always wanted to do. But if they're going to make it happen they've got to be on their best game.

Because Dan's condo doesn't allow children, Dan and the kids are forced to move in with Charlie for the time being. The misguided children clearly need direction, and good leadership, but it's awfully difficult for Dan and Charlie to give them that when they're so close to securing their huge deal. Desperately trying to help Dan and the kids communicate, Dan calls his friend Jimmy Lunchbox (Played by Bernie Mac), a flamboyant children's entertainer to help out in as many ways as possible.

Everything is great when Vicki comes home from serving her time in jail. However, Dan and Charlie have sealed the deal with the Japanese, and sent their junior associate Craig (Played by Seth Green) to Tokyo. When Craig goes missing shortly after arriving there, Dan and Charlie must fly to Tokyo to do the work themselves.
