Paper Moon

"These aren't everyday people and this is no ordinary movie."

This was a movie set among the years of the Depression Era. A con man (Ryan O'Neal) is believed to be a relative of a young, newly-orphaned girl. O'Neal agrees to take the child under his wing and accompany her from the Midwest to the home of a distant aunt. The duo quickly prove to be kindred spirits as they continually scam innocent people during their travels. One of their primary cons is to sell Bibles at exorbitant prices. They merely check the obituary listings and then claim that the deceased individuals have ordered the books. The grieving relatives are easily duped into paying money and the cunning duo move on to greener pastures.
