The gymnast name is Dan Millman, and his main goal in life is to win a National Championship competition. Dan must always be on the go, and he runs every morning to burn off steam.

When Dan stops at a gas station, the old man at the location seems to know more about Dan then he knows about himself. Since Dan is unsettled by the old man's knowledge, he ends up nicknaming the old man named Socrates. There is a dream that involves Socrates sweeping up the shattered pieces of his leg. Even though the man is old, he still has skill. Dan learns a lot about himself throughout the movie as Socrates is able to assist Dan with important life lessons. You will have to watch the rest of the film to see what happens next!
