Robinson Crusoe is a film produced by Njeri Karango. It is based on the 1719 novel by Daniel Defoe. Robinson Crusoe runs for 92 minutes. The film stars Robinson Crusoe, played by Pierce Brosnan, a Scottish man who previously served in the British army and navy. He enters into a duel with one his dearest friends, Patrick, and unintentionally kills him.

Crusoe then goes to work for the merchant marine, carrying shipments throughout ports in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans. The captain asks Crusoe to keep a record of the ship’s travels, but one day, a vicious storm shipwrecks the vessel not far from the New Guinea coastline.

Crusoe buries fellow crewmembers who perished in the storm along the beach. He later returns to the marooned ship and retrieves provisions. Crusoe studies his surrounding while he waits for another European ship to find him. Crusoe eventually decides to move inland for safety and to grow his own food.

At some point, Crusoe hears drums and voices echoing in the distance. He moves toward the sound and discovers a tribe making ritual human sacrifices. Crusoe shoots his weapon and enables one of the captives to flee.

Crusoe eventually befriends the native he freed and names him Friday. Crusoe works to build a canoe to leave the island for New Britain after the other natives seek revenge on him, but a typhoon destroys the boat. The tribesmen find Crusoe and Friday, and shoot Crusoe with an arrow. Friday transports Crusoe to his home island to try to save his life. When they arrive, Friday’s tribe tries to detain Crusoe, thinking he had come to force them into slavery. The natives force Crusoe and Friday into a fight to the death. Crusoe elects not to kill Friday, but Friday is shot with a bullet. Crusoe is devastated over the loss of his friend. A group of Europeans free Crusoe and transport him back to England.
