Romy and Michele's High School Reunion follows two unsuccessful women as they prepare to attend their 10-year high school reunion in Tucson, Arizona. After high school, the two friends moved to Los Angeles, California with dreams of making it big. However, they have yet to achieve the success they long for. Romy is a receptionist at a car dealership, while Michele is currently unemployed.

The girls come up with a plan to attend their high school reunion with the false story that they invented the Post-it note. Romy borrows a car from the dealership while Michele makes them both business suits to wear. As they begin their drive to the reunion, their friendship is put to the test when they argue over who came up with the idea for the Post-it note. They agree to go their separate ways once they get to the reunion.

Even though they had a falling out, Michele is quick to defend her best friend when the popular A-Group girls begin to bully Romy.
