Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

This 1948 animated adaption of the classic Christmas story, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, came out just nine years after Rudolph's first published appearance. The story was originally published as a promotional tool for the Montgomery Ward department store in Chicago. Rudolph became instantly popular, selling more than two million copies and eight years later it inspired a technicolor short film, animated by Max Fleischer in, 1947. A year later it was reissued to include the now popular song, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, by Johnny Marks.

Fleischer's version of the story is considered to be the most accurate rendition when compared to the original 1938 storybook by Robert May. Fleischer paid close attention to stay true to the artwork, illustrated by Denver Gillen, that accompanied the book.

The short film runs about eight and a half minutes long and features the voice talent of Paul Wing. It also features an original score composed by George Kleinsinger.
