The Book Thief

"Courage beyond words."

The Book Thief is a drama that takes place during World War II. The movie follows a young girl named Liesel Meminger, played by Sophie Nélisse, who is living with foster parents, as she steals books that the Nazis plan to burn. The story is complicated by the Jewish refugee that her foster parents, played by Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson, are hiding beneath their stairs.

The movie is adapted from Markus Zusak’s book of the same name. The book is a young adult novel, and the movie is meant to appeal to a similar audience. There are no gruesome scenes as in some movies about World War II. The scenes are appropriate for a younger audience but they will appeal to people of all ages.
