The Dancer Upstairs

"An honest man caught in a world of intrigue, power and passion."

John Malcovich directs and Javier Bardem stars in this film set in a Latin American company nearing collapse and under fire from an extreme terrorist movement. Policeman Agustin Rejas is a former lawyer and an idealist with dreams of heroism and he sets out to do the near impossible, catch a mysterious but famous terrorist guerilla leader. This terrorist is the brains behind the blood-fueled revolutionary movement that threatens to topple everything Agustin Rejas knows. Rejas finds solace in the arms of a beautiful ballet teacher, Yolanda, played by Laura Morante. He soon finds out that while she appears to be a respite from the storm he faces daily, she may in fact be the eye of that storm. Ultimately Rejas must choose between romantic love, his country, and himself in this music and dance soaked drama.

This film also stars Juan Diego Botto, Elvira Minguez, Alexandra Lencastre, and Oliver Cotton.
