The Happiest Millionaire

Based on a true story Fred McMurray plays the role of an outrageously eccentric millionaire. The setting is the early years of the 20th century, prior to the debut of television and modern day electronics. McMurray's character teaches boxing and keeps a gang of alligators as pets. His young daughter wants to get married but her father's unusual antics have made her less desirable to the young men who live in the community. Everything changes when a happy go lucky young Irishman becomes the family's butler. At one point the daughter even runs away from home and discovers the gentleman she wants to marry. The remainder of this lavish musical deals with the attempts of the butler and the millionaire's daughter to make others understand that McMurray's character is actually a charming and lovable man.
