The Incredibles

"No gut, no glory"

The Incredibles is a fun, animated movie about a family of superheroes attempting to live quietly in the suburbs. They are forced to hide their powers in an effort to live a normal life. When the father of the family, Bob Parr, becomes embattled with an evil villain and his robot the entire family must suit up and take action in order to save the world.

After entering a government program called the “Supers Relocation Program” Bob and Helen Parr are forced to stop using their superpowers and resign to living a quiet life. They move to the suburbs of Metroville and have three children, Violet, Dash and Jack. Violet and Dash develop superpowers as well but the youngest child, Jack, has yet to develop any. While Helen is happy with her suburban family life, Bob finds himself bored with his job as an insurance agent. He begins sneaking out on Wednesday nights to fight crime with his superhero friend Lucius Best. Together the two of them intercept calls from a police radio and attempt to stop the crimes in action before the police arrive. Life is great until one day when Bob loses his temper while being lectured by his boss. He throws him through a wall, revealing his superhero nature. Following this incident Bob is fired from his job and that is where the true adventure begins.

As Bob tries to devise a way to tell his wife about losing his job, a mysterious woman named “Mirage” asks Bob to help her stop a robot who has gone rogue on a distant island. She offers a very large reward for his services. Bob lies to his wife about going on a business trip to go fulfill this request by Mirage. Upon his return, he begins a stringent work out routine, eager to get back into shape. It is not long before Mirage calls upon him again for help on the same island. When he arrives, he finds that the robot he previously destroyed has been rebuilt, reprogrammed and is ready for round two. When Bob is trapped by the robot, it will take the entire family to rescue him and save the world.

This sharp, amusing story easily appeals to adults as well as children. Featuring all-star voices like Samuel L. Jackson, Craig Nelson and Holly Lee, this movie celebrates family, diversity and determination. The sleek computer animation leaves viewers spellbound as the action unfolds. A must see movie for all ages.
