The Libertine is a film from 2004 that has Johnny Depp taking on the role of John Wilmot, the second Earl of Rochester and a man who was known for being a drunkard, playboy, and an anarchist poet during the reign of England's King Charles II. Depp's Wilmot is intrigued by Samantha Morton's Elizabeth Barry, an actress, enough to take her under his wing as a pupil and lover. The king, played by John Malkovich, is stuck between his fondness for Wilmot and the trouble and contempt for his rulership that Wilmot espouses. The Libertine totals 130 minutes in length.
