Watch The Man Who Fell to Earth

"Power, space, time and a visitor."

This film, adapted from the 1963 novel written by Walter Tevis and directed by Nicolas Roeg is to many a huge British science fiction cult classic. The film stars such celebrities as David Bowie in his first feature film ever, Rip Torn, and Candy Clark. When an alien crash lands on earth, it is a struggle to gain a foot in the business world to make preparations to return home with water. Although, the use of alien technology may provide an avenue to help the stranded alien get ahead. Yet, along the way there are bad lifestyle choices that do more to hinder than help things along for the alien whose plans are pitted against the clock. In addition, relationships with other humans may open an alien's eyes to a lot of cultural norms of society, but are these cultural insights healthy indulgences or a means to roadblock the alien's efforts.

Will the extra terrestrial visitor secure his objective or become ensnared by the world, its vices, and the people in it and fail to make it home in time with the much needed resources? In 1987, the film was redone for American television, but the latter remake was not nearly as successful as the original 1976 cult classic version. Yet, to see both versions may provide the viewer with a mixed perspective about the movie, due to the differences included in each version.
