The bestselling book "The Nanny Diaries" was written by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, who were nannies themselves. The screenplay was written by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, who also directed. While writing the script, the pair pictured Scarlett Johansson as Annie and was glad she accepted the role. The Weinstein Company produced the film.
The X's are the typical Fifth Avenue couple. Mrs. X, played by Laura Linney, is flashy and oblivious to everyone else around her. Mr. X, played by Paul Giamatti, cares more about money and younger women than his own family. This is the world that Annie moves into, so she can watch Grayer, played by Nicholas Art. Annie's best friend Lynnette, played by Alicia Keyes, cannot understand why her best friend took the job.
When Annie gets the job, she is told she cannot date, as that is the reason the last nanny was fired. That goes awry when she meets Harvard Hottie, played by Chris Evans, on the elevator constantly and they both become infatuated. There is also the fact that Mrs. X thinks she is the perfect mother. Between Mr. X's adultery, Mrs. X's obliviousness and Annie's inability to conform, Grayer's life gets changed.
The Nanny Diaries is available to watch and stream, buy on demand at Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, YouTube VOD online.
