The Pride of the Yankees

"Intimate and thrilling drama of a hero of the headlines... the girl who had his love and shared his life, but dared not question his one secret!"

Lou Gehrig was a Columbia University student who became the legendary first baseman for the New York Yankees in the 1920s and 1930s. He set a seemingly unbreakable record for consecutive starts and looked to have a career that would last many years. Unfortunately, his health began to decline with the disease that now often bears his name. The film is remembered for Gehrig's "luckiest man on the face of the earth" speech.
