The Singing Detective

"When it comes to murder, seduction and betrayal he wrote the book. Now he's living it!"

This American movie adaptation of the popular British TV drama of the same name tells the story of Dan Dark, a novelist stranded in hospital because of the skin condition psoriasis. During his time in the hospital, Dark finds himself moving further and further into a fantasy world that sees him act as the main character in a dark film noir. During the movie the problems affecting Dark in hospital are also explored, alongside his troubled childhood. The Singing Detective features a number of songs from the 1950s sung by the characters to help explain the story and various plot lines.
