The Wackness

The Wackness is an 2008 drama film starring Josh Peck and Mary Kate Olsen. The movie was awarded the Audience Award in the Sun dance Film Festival. Josh Peck's character's name is Luke and he is a drug dealer who specializes in selling marijuana. At the beginning of the movie he is dealing with some troubles at home and regularly visits a psychologist, who is helping him overcome his issues. He currently brings in a very small income so he must sell weed to his psychologist, in order to get the help that he needs. Luke is on the cusps of graduation and goes to a party held by one of his friends. At the party he finds that most of the people at the party are going elsewhere when graduation is over. He feels lost and lonely because he never was really accepted in his high school. He also has no plans after graduation, because he has spent most of his time either selling weed or dealing with his angry parents. After returning from the party he heads home to find that his parents are in yet another heated argument. The issue is over a possible eviction coming up (both of his parents are out of work). He feels the pressure of the instability on his shoulders so he begins to sell even more marijuana in order to provide for his family. Luke runs into a friend of his named Stephanie, they eventually decide to go around the city selling weed and enjoying their time. Stephanie eventually convince him to get high and go drinking at a bar, after they get kicked out of the bar they are put in jail. They are bailed out by Luke's doctor and they eventually have sex together. Stephanie finds out he is a virgin and decides to give him some lessons, he then tells her he loves her. She seems put off by the comment, but saves face by faking an compliment.
