Ep 17. After-Prom

After-Prom is the seventeenth episode of the second season of the American television series Bless This Mess. It aired on ABC on March 17, 2020 and was directed by Jason Winer.

The episode revolves around the aftermath of the prom night at the local high school. The residents of Bucksnort find themselves in a mess as the teenagers who attended the prom littered the streets with trash and beer cans. The town cleaning crew refused to clean up the mess because it was beyond their capacity to clean. The townsfolk have to come together to clean the town before a big RV festival comes to town.

Meanwhile, Rio and Mike return from their night out, but they are interrupted by Constance, who is supposed to be on vacation. She tells them that she needs some time off to go visit her mother in Arizona. Mike tries to make her stay but she is not having it. Constance leaves Mike and Rio in charge of the farm. Rio is happy to have a shot at running the farm but Mike is not sure if he is ready to take on such a huge responsibility.

Back in town, Rudy and Beau try to convince Kay to run for town council. Kay is apprehensive about running for office because she is not sure if she is qualified for the job. Rudy and Beau convince her otherwise and she agrees to run for office.

As the town cleaning crew tries to clean up the prom litter, they realize that they are short of cleaning supplies. Lisa suggests that they go to the local RV park to ask for cleaning supplies as they are short on time. When they reach the RV park, they meet a group of RV enthusiasts who are camping out before heading to the big festival in Bucksnort. They are happy to help the town clean up in exchange for a chance to use the Bucksnort public pool.

Mike and Rio have a tough time running the farm. Mike’s insecurities are getting the better of him, and he is not sure if he is doing the right thing. Meanwhile, Rio is taking charge of the farm and is not making it any easier for Mike. They argue about everything from which crops to plant to how to sell them. Rio is frustrated with Mike’s indecisiveness and is not happy with his leadership.

Back in town, Kay is busy campaigning for the town council. She has a tough time convincing the townsfolk that she is the right candidate for the job. Rudy and Beau help her with her campaign and they come up with a plan to bring the town together. They organize a community cleanup drive, where the residents of Bucksnort come together to clean up the streets. The campaign is a success, and Kay wins the election by a landslide.

As the RV enthusiasts help to clean up the town, they realize that Bucksnort is a great place to live. They decide to skip the festival and stay in Bucksnort instead. Lisa is happy that she was able to bring the town together and make Bucksnort a better place to live. Meanwhile, Mike and Rio put aside their differences and work together to run the farm. They realize that they are a good team and that they can work together to make the farm successful.

In the end, the residents of Bucksnort come together to clean the town, Kay wins the election, and Mike and Rio learn to work together to run the farm. It is a heartwarming episode that showcases the importance of community and teamwork.
