Decked Out

Decked Out is a Canadian television show based on innovative carpenter and designer Paul Lafrance. He learned how to do construction on his own by teaching himself everything he knows. He eventually went on to expand his business to include rebuilding decks and relandscaping yards for the reality television show Decked Out. The show follows Paul while he designs a new backyard and a dramatic deck and then builds it.

The show Decked Out focuses on Paul's incredible backyard designs, but the main feature of the show is the inspiring deck design that he creates based on each family's desires and needs. Some decks have barbecue stations and hot tubs and others have pergolas and are like an outdoor oasis. He uses his natural design talent to create something special for each individual family.

The show challenges Paul to come up with a creative design that will utilize the available space and present the family with their ideal backyard. He creates a design and makes a plan. Then, he has limited time to complete the projects for the show. His team comes in and helps him clean up and clear the site. They bring in all of the materials and get to work! It's not long before he has the project completed and presentable for the family.

Paul Lafrance started out in the music industry and eventually applied his love of art to his designs for construction. He uses unique innovation to create decks that are unlike any others. Just one of Paul's decks was a two story deck that included a pergola. He also owns Cutting Edge Construction and Design, which no longer builds decks for consumers, but simply designs them. Paul's construction is reserved for his television show, Decked Out.

Decked Out Full Episode Guide

  • Andrew and Shirley built their dream home. But their plans and their work ended at the back door. Enter Paul and the crew, who are coming in to completely transform the empty backyard. There will be curves, there will be shade from the sun, a hot tub and even a changing room. And did we mention the sandbox?

  • Kendall and Crystal have a beautiful house and a beautiful view from their backyard. Problem is, their deck is so small it won't even fit their grill on it. Paul and the gang are going to rip the old deck out and replace it with an impressive multi-level work of art. And to top it off, they're installing a sunken hot tub.

  • How big is too big? No such thing. This time Paul designs and builds a deck for Ken and Kathy that's bigger than any deck ought to be - 4,500 square feet of outdoor luxury. Throw in a saltwater pool, one hot tub, two cabanas, three gazebos and a stone grill area, and you'll never look at your own deck the same way again.

  • Sarah and James have a really awful deck. It's the one that came with their new house, and so far, the space has been pretty useless. Paul and the crew take on this challenge and build an unbelievably gorgeous elevated deck. They battle the rain and the heat in the process, but the team comes out on top in the end. Sarah's new deck - and her cozy cottage on the deck - is enough to make anyone's life complete.
