Watch Digimon Adventure

Digimon Adventure is a 54 episode Japanese anime series, as well as the first anime series within the Digimon franchise. The premise of the series involves a group of mostly preteen children, referred to as the "DigiDestined," who are transported to an alternate world, where all matter is derived from digital information. Each DigiDestined child is partnered up with a "digimon," a portmanteau of "Digital Monster," an evolving ally, and eventually friend, that will protect him or her from other, hostile, digimon of the Digital World.

Over the span of four story arcs, the DigiDestined go from purifying "File Island" from an array of destructive black gears which corrupt digimon and the world, to heading for the Server continent to deal Etemon and his Dark Network that ultimately creates a gateway between Earth and the Digital World, to dealing with the sinister Myotismon running amok on Earth, and concluding with the DigiDestined heading back to a version of the Digital World devastated by the "Dark Masters" who have ruined the realm beyond what the children conceived.

The DigiDestined themselves, as well as their partners, eventually reach a total of 8 members each. Furthermore, each child represents a particular conceptual crest and are as follows: team leader Taichi "Tai" Kamiya represents the Crest of Courage with his dinosaur-like partner Agumon; the secondary leader Yamato "Matt" Ishida represents the Crest of Friendship with his bestial partner Gabumon; the "team mom" Sora Takenouchi represents the Crest of Love with her partner Biyomon; the strategist Koushirou "Izzy" Izumi represents the Crest of Knowledge with his partner Tentomon; the ditzy Mimi Tachikawa represents the Crest of Sincerity with her flowery partner Palmon; the supportive Joe Kido represents the Crest of Reliability (Faithfulness/Integrity/Sincerity depending on the particular translation) with his aquatic partner Gomamon, the youthful Takeru "T.K." Ishida is Yamato's younger brother (referred to as his half-brother in the English version) and represents the Crest of Hope with his dragon-like partner Patamon; and Tai's sister Kari joins the DigiDestined in the 3rd story arc, representing the Crest of Light with her feline partner Gatomon.
