For Better or Worse is an American television sitcom created, written, directed and executive produced by Tyler Perry that aired on TBS from 2011 to 2017. The show follows the lives of the couples Marcus and Angela Williams, Joseph and Leslie Simmons, and Richard and Keisha Ellington, as they navigate through their relationships and the challenges that come with them. The second episode of season 1, titled "One Last Try," focuses on the strained marriage of Marcus and Angela Williams.
The episode begins with Marcus and Angela seeking advice from their friends Joseph and Leslie Simmons on how to repair their marriage. Joseph suggests that they try couple's therapy and even offers to be their therapist himself. At first, Marcus is hesitant but eventually agrees to give it a try. However, when they arrive at Joseph's office for their first session, they discover that he is not actually a licensed therapist but is instead taking a course on becoming one. Despite this revelation, they decide to continue with the session and air out their grievances.
Throughout the session, Marcus and Angela argue and blame each other for the problems in their marriage. Marcus accuses Angela of being controlling and nagging, while Angela accuses Marcus of being unfaithful and not prioritizing their family. As the argument escalates, Joseph tries to mediate and offer solutions, but his lack of experience as a therapist becomes more apparent as the session continues.
Meanwhile, Leslie is dealing with her own issues in her marriage with Joseph. She confides in her friend Keisha that Joseph has been distant and uncommunicative, and she fears that he may be cheating on her. Keisha advises her to confront him and have an honest conversation about their relationship.
Back at the therapy session, Marcus and Angela eventually come to a realization that they both need to make changes in order for their marriage to work. Marcus acknowledges that he needs to step up and be a better husband and father, while Angela realizes that she needs to trust Marcus more and not always assume the worst. They both agree to try and work things out and give their marriage one last try.
The episode ends with Joseph and Leslie having their own conversation about their marriage, with Joseph admitting that he has been distant because he has been struggling with his own insecurities. They both agree to support each other and work on their marriage as well.
Overall, "One Last Try" is a humorous but poignant look at the challenges that come with maintaining a marriage, and the importance of communication and honesty. Despite its comedic elements, the show does not shy away from tackling serious issues and exploring the complexities of human relationships.
