For the People season 1 episode 2, titled "Rahowa," follows the young attorneys of the Southern District of New York Federal Court as they navigate their way through their second day of trials. With only two days under their belt, the rookies participate in a high-profile case that involves a controversial racial profiling lawsuit against the NYPD.

The episode opens with a heated debate between Seth Oliver (Ben Rappaport) and Jill Carlan (Hope Davis), both of whom are defense attorneys on the aforementioned case. Seth contends that the NYPD did nothing wrong in their routine stops that resulted in the plaintiff's arrest, while Jill argues that the plaintiff was falsely arrested and subsequently treated unfairly by the officers in question.

Meanwhile, Jay Simmons (Wesam Keesh) has his hands full trying to persuade a reluctant witness to testify in court in a different case. The witness, who is a victim of domestic abuse, is hesitant to take the stand due to the potential backlash she may face from her abusive ex-partner.

Elsewhere, Allison Adams (Jasmin Savoy Brown) is scrambling to prepare for her first solo trial. She is representing a woman who claims to have been wrongfully terminated from her job. Allison's preparation is complicated when she learns that her client may have been fired due to her sexual orientation.

Kate Littlejohn (Susannah Flood) is tasked with handling a seemingly trivial case of a man who was caught stealing a pumpkin. However, she quickly realizes that the defendant suffers from a mental illness and that there may be more to the case than meets the eye.

In the midst of all their cases, the young attorneys also deal with personal issues, such as Seth's struggle with anxiety and Kate's constant need for approval.

Throughout the episode, the intensity and pressure of being a federal prosecutor or defender are evident, as the rookies discover firsthand the high stakes and emotional toll involved in their work.

"Rahowa" showcases the young attorneys' growth and challenges as they navigate the intricate legal system and battle it out in the courtroom. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating the next installment.
