Watch Fridays

Fridays was a short lived 1980s variety series that was probably inspired by the success of Saturday Night Live. It had musical guests like the Clash, Devo, Squeeze, Dire Straits, and others. Fridays also had a newscast that was much like SNL's Weekend Update. One of the cast members was Larry David who went on to become one of the creators and producers of Seinfeld. On one Friday's newscast, David had a consumer spot about how a nan can avoid trouble in the street. He wore a frilly blouse on the newscast. The idea was, if you look strange thugs will leave you alone. You'll have to see the episode to find out if it worked.

There were plenty of celebrity guests. Sometimes the television shows they were famous for were spoofed, such as William Shatner in a Star Trek spoof. Michael Richards played a playboy named Dick, getting his hair done by Valerie Bertinelli in a unisex punk barbershop.
