In the first episode of Glasslip, we are introduced to a group of friends in a rural town on the coast of Japan. The main character, Toko Fukami, is an aspiring artist who spends her days creating glass sculptures and daydreaming about her future. She is joined by her childhood friends Kakeru Okikura, Yanagi Takayama, Hiro Shirosaki, and Sachi Nagamiya.

The episode begins with Toko and Kakeru wandering through a local festival, admiring the fireworks display. As they watch the colorful explosives burst in the air, Kakeru suddenly becomes entranced and seems to experience a vision of the future. He cryptically tells Toko that he saw something important, but refuses to elaborate further.

As the night wears on, the group of friends heads to a café owned by Yanagi's family. They discuss their plans for the future and their upcoming high school graduation. Despite their excitement for the future, there is an underlying tension among the group as they all harbor unspoken feelings and secrets.

Toko's crush on Kakeru is obvious to everyone except Kakeru himself. Meanwhile, Sachi harbors feelings for Hiro, but is afraid to reveal them because of their long-standing friendship. Yanagi seems to be struggling with her own issues, with her family pressuring her to pursue a future as a doctor against her own desires.

As the night comes to a close, Toko and Kakeru find themselves alone on a seaside path. Kakeru finally reveals his vision to Toko, explaining that he saw a fragment of the future in which Toko's glasswork played a crucial role. It is clear that Kakeru is drawn to Toko's artistic abilities and sees something special in her.

The first episode of Glasslip sets up the series' themes of friendship, romance, and the uncertainty of the future. Each character seems to be at a crossroads in their lives, unsure of what direction to take. The addition of Kakeru's cryptic vision adds a touch of magic and mystery to the show, leaving viewers wondering what role Toko's glasswork will play in the future. The beautiful animation and setting of the show create a dreamy, almost ethereal atmosphere that pulls the viewer into the world of the characters. As the episode comes to a close, it is clear that the stage has been set for a complex and emotionally charged story.
