God Friended Me is a drama series that deals with the concept of faith, spirituality and their place in the modern world. The show revolves around Miles Finer (Brandon Micheal Hall), an outspoken atheist who is confronted by a mysterious friend request on social media - from God.

Season 1, episode 7 is titled “The Prodigal Son.” The episode begins with Miles and Cara (Violett Beane) having drinks at a bar, where Miles bumps into an old friend of his, Paul. Paul is a former seminary student who had to leave because of his relationship with Cara's sister, Emily. The two had a brief fling, but she broke it off when she found out that Paul was headed towards the priesthood.

After their conversation with Paul, Miles receives a new friend suggestion, a man named Leonard (Ellis Walding). Leonard is a musician who has been homeless for several years and has resorted to busking on the streets. Miles decides to help Leonard, and they discover that he has a prodigious amount of musical talent. Miles puts him in touch with Simon Hayes (Adam Goldberg), a music producer, who offers Leonard a recording contract.

Meanwhile, Cara's father, Bishop Thompson (Ben Vereen), approaches her and asks her to write a glowing review of his new book. Cara agrees to do it, but later finds out that her father plagiarized parts of the book from another author, Reverend Elias (Donald Paul). When Cara confronts her father, he admits his mistake and begs her not to expose him, as it could ruin his career. Cara is torn between her loyalty to her father and her journalistic integrity.

Back to Miles, he continues to help Leonard get his career off the ground, but soon realizes that Leonard has a dark secret. Leonard reveals that he has a daughter whom he abandoned years ago and has never been able to find her. Miles helps Leonard track down his daughter and reunite with her, which proves to be an emotional moment for both of them.

In the end, Miles, Cara, and Rakesh (Suraj Sharma) meet at a bar where Miles tells them that he's stopping the God account, as he feels like he's been rushing things and that he needs to take a step back and evaluate his life. Just as they're discussing this, Miles receives a new friend suggestion - himself. Miles is shocked and doesn't understand why God would friend him. The episode ends with Miles staring at his phone in disbelief, wondering what God wants from him.

Overall, “The Prodigal Son” is a heartwarming episode that deals with themes of forgiveness, redemption, and the consequences of our actions. The show continues to explore the idea of a higher power intervening in the lives of ordinary people, and how it affects their faith and worldview. The chemistry between the characters is strong, and the plot is well-paced, keeping the audience engaged throughout the episode.
