Avalanche Rescue, the second episode of the 2018 series Hard to Kill, features Tim Kennedy as he takes on one of the most dangerous jobs in the world - search and rescue in avalanche-prone mountains. Kennedy is a former U.S. Army Special Forces operator and a Mixed Martial Arts fighter, and in this episode, he puts his skills to the ultimate test.

The episode starts with Kennedy undergoing a basic avalanche response course where he learns the basics of avalanche safety and the gear needed for rescue. After completing the training, Kennedy joins a team of experienced avalanche rescuers, and they set out to the mountains where they will spend the day performing training exercises.

The team first conducts a beeper search, where they locate buried beacons and practice using their avalanche transceivers to locate them. This exercise helps them develop their skills in quickly locating people in an avalanche situation.

Next, the team moves onto a massive snowfield, where they set off small explosive charges to simulate an avalanche. Once the snow has settled, they start searching for a buried person with their avalanche probes. After locating the "victim," the team quickly works together to dig them out. The exercise emphasizes the importance of teamwork and quick response time.

After the training exercises, Kennedy is faced with his first real rescue mission. A skier has been reported missing during a recent avalanche, and his team was unable to locate him. Kennedy joins the team as they rush to the scene to start the search. The mission is a high-stress situation, and there are lives on the line.

The team starts by using rescue dogs to try to locate the missing skier. The dogs cover a vast area quickly and efficiently, but they are unable to locate the skier. The team then moves on to use their avalanche probes in the snow. Despite their initial efforts, they are still unable to locate the skier.

As time runs out, Kennedy takes a risk and decides to triangulate the skier's phone signal to get an exact location. He and the team head over to the location, and to their relief, they find the skier buried under the snow. He is motionless, and the rescue team quickly starts digging him out. After a few tense moments, the skier is rescued. He is unconscious, but alive.

In the aftermath of the rescue, Kennedy highlights the importance of being prepared for anything in the mountains. He emphasizes that the consequences of taking any risks could be deadly. Avalanche Rescue is an action-packed episode that highlights the bravery and skill of avalanche rescuers and the dangers they face every day.

Overall, Avalanche Rescue is a thrilling episode that exemplifies the importance of being prepared for any situation. It shows how quickly things can turn life-threatening in the mountains and how important it is to have a team of highly skilled rescuers who are ready to act quickly in times of crisis.
