Head of the Class

Head of the Class was an ABC sitcom that debuted in 1986. It followed the lives of a Manhattan teacher named Charlie Moore, played by Howard Hesseman, and the students he taught in his gifted high school honors class. The students in the class were a unique blend of different personalities. Computer whiz Dennis and his nerdy buddy Arvid provided many of the laughs, while beautiful red head Simone and tough, but sensitive, writer Eric brought the romance. Preppy Alan and spoiled Darlene vied for highest GPA and the privilege of becoming valedictorian. Eleven-year-old Janice was considered intelligent enough to not only attend high school, but achieve placement in the gifted class.

Several cast changes occurred in the fourth and fifth seasons. The most jarring was the departure of Hesseman and arrival of Billy Connelly as new teacher Billy MacGregor. After Billy
