Highlander: The Series is a science fiction fantasy television show produced by Davis/Panzer Productions, Inc. The show is the sequel to the popular 1986 movie "Highlander" and follows the story of Duncan MacLeod, a Scottish immortal who lives among humans while in pursuit of other immortals with whom he battles with their trusty swords. Adrian Paul plays the role of Duncan MacLeod, a charismatic immortal who is over four centuries old and has lived through some of history's most turbulent times. The show was penned by the brilliant creators Gregory Widen and Peter Davis.

The show is set in modern-day Paris, where Duncan MacLeod leads a secret life as a sword-wielding immortal who is hunted by other immortals. The main concept of the show is that throughout history, there are a certain number of immortal beings who live among humans, fighting each other in order to become the last immortal alive. The winner claims the ultimate prize, which is to become mortal, therefore living out the rest of their natural lifespan.

The main storyline involves Duncan MacLeod as he navigates through life in the modern world while avoiding his mortal enemies or 'immortals' who don't like living with the pain of immortality. In this quest, Duncan has made some close friends who are also immortals, Joe Dawson being one of them. Stan Kirsch plays the role of Richie Ryan, who is MacLeod’s young apprentice, and Amanda Wyss plays his love interest.

The show follows a unique format that features a flashback structure in almost every episode, with each episode taking the viewers on a journey through time as they explore some of the significant events and characters that have shaped Duncan MacLeod's life. In this way, the show gives viewers an opportunity to see some major historical events from a unique perspective.

The show is full of fantastic fight scenes, swordsmanship, and special effects that are all expertly done. The fight choreography is one of the strong points of the show, and the battles are all fast-paced and visually stunning. Throughout the series, you see MacLeod fight against other immortals, often with swords, in a series of fights that show off Paul's excellent acting abilities, as well as his athleticism.

In addition to the often action-packed episodes, there is also a lot of character development in the show, particularly as viewers delve deeper into the personal history and motivations of the main characters. MacLeod is depicted as a complex individual, with his own moral code and a deep sense of loyalty and compassion. The show explores these traits, as well as his relationships with other immortals and humans, in depth.

The show has an excellent supporting cast, including Elizabeth Gracen as Amanda, a beautiful and strong female immortal whom MacLeod has a complicated past with, and Jim Byrnes as Joe Dawson, a loyal friend of MacLeod's who helps him find other immortals and their history. Peter Wingfield plays the evil arch-enemies of the immortals known as Watchers, who spy on and report on the activities of the various immortals around the world.

Roger Daltrey of The Who fame also makes several memorable appearances throughout the series as another immortal named Hugh Fitzcairn. His appearances serve as a guest spot and leave the viewers wanting more.

Highlander: The Series ran for six seasons from 1992 to 1998 and remains a cult classic among fans of the genre. The show's theme song, 'Princes of the Universe' by Queen, is a classic that fans of the show will recognize instantly.

Overall, Highlander: The Series is a captivating tale of love and loss, and the insatiable hunger for power that drives the human spirit. The show combines elements of action, romance, and sci-fi in a perfect blend, with strong acting, engaging characters, and exciting fight scenes that will have audiences on the edge of their seats. It’s a show that was ahead of its time and continues to entertain fans of all ages.
