Ep 7. School's Out

After a tumultuous school year in which Gene (played by Jillian Bell) was tasked with tutoring rebellious rich girl Billie (played by Charlotte Newhouse), the season 2 finale of Idiotsitter sees the women heading to the beach for some much-needed R&R.

As ever, though, trouble follows the two women wherever they go. On the trip, Gene and Billie are joined by Gene’s eccentric father, who brings along a backpack full of homemade explosives, a tendency to hit on Billie, and an obsession with retrieving an ashtray he lost in the sand back in 1976.

While Gene tries to keep her father in check, Billie finds herself fighting off the advances of her sleazy ex-boyfriend, who shows up with a group of his friends in tow.

The tension mounts as the women navigate their respective family dramas and romantic entanglements, leading up to a finale that sees them joining forces to take down a common enemy.

School’s Out is a raucous, laugh-out-loud episode that showcases the absurdities of Gene and Billie’s dysfunctional relationship, and highlights the chemistry between Bell and Newhouse. It’s the perfect conclusion to a season that has seen the titular idiots grow and change in unexpected ways, all while keeping audiences in stitches.
