Lethal Weapon is a crime-comedy-drama television series that aired on FOX from 2016 to 2019, based on the iconic film franchise of the same name. The show follows the partnership between two cops, Roger Murtaugh (played by Damon Wayans) and Martin Riggs (played by Clayne Crawford in the first two seasons, and later by Seann William Scott in the third season).

The show is set in Los Angeles and focuses on the professional and personal lives of the two detectives. Despite their contrasting personalities, Murtaugh's cautiousness and Riggs' recklessness, they form a strong bond and become an invincible duo. Murtaugh is a family man trying to keep his marriage and three children intact while simultaneously dealing with a mid-life crisis. On the other hand, Riggs is a widower struggling with the loss of his wife and unborn child, and coping with his own mental health issues.

Season one of the show introduces the characters and establishes their dynamic. Murtaugh, who is recovering from a heart attack, is reluctant to partner with Riggs, a loose cannon with a death wish. However, they soon discover that they have a lot in common, and begin to bring out the best in each other. They investigate various cases throughout the season, ranging from drug trafficking to murder, all while dealing with their own personal demons.

The second season picks up where the first left off, with Murtaugh and Riggs continuing to solve crimes in LA. The season delves deeper into their personal lives and relationships. We see Riggs grappling with his past and trying to move on, while Murtaugh navigates the complications of being a father and husband. The stakes are higher in this season, as their investigations become more dangerous and personal. They also get help from their colleagues, including Murtaugh's close friend and police captain, Avery (played by Kevin Rahm), and his no-nonsense partner, Trish (played by Keesha Sharp).

The third season sees the departure of Crawford from the show, with Scott taking over as Riggs' replacement. The season shifts focus from Riggs' personal struggles to new cases and character development among the supporting cast. We see Murtaugh adjusting to the new dynamic with his new partner, while also dealing with his son's legal troubles. Trish becomes an important player, taking on her own cases and dealing with her own ethical dilemmas. Avery also takes on a more prominent role, becoming involved in the investigations and dealing with his own personal life.

Throughout the series, Lethal Weapon combines action-packed crime drama with comedic moments and doses of heartfelt emotion. The show explores themes of family, friendship, loyalty, grief, and mental health, portraying complex characters with nuanced relationships. The chemistry between Wayans and Crawford in the first two seasons is palpable, and their banter and bickering is one of the highlights of the show. The addition of Sharp, Rahm, and Scott adds depth and diversity to the cast, creating a well-rounded ensemble that elevates the show's storytelling.

Overall, Lethal Weapon is an entertaining and emotionally engaging TV show that honors the spirit of the beloved film franchise. It combines humor, heart, and thrilling action, creating a compelling series that audiences can't help but root for.

Lethal Weapon is a series that is currently running and has 3 seasons (55 episodes). The series first aired on September 21, 2016.
