Magnum P.I. is an American crime drama television series developed by Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim. It premiered on September 24, 2018, on CBS and concluded on May 6, 2023. The show is a reboot of the original Magnum P.I. series that premiered in 1980 and ran until 1988.

The show follows the adventures of Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez), a former Navy SEAL turned private investigator who lives and works on the beautiful island of Oahu in Hawaii. Magnum becomes a private investigator for Robin Masters, a famous author, and the owner of the luxurious Robin's Nest estate, where Magnum lives, under the condition that he will take care of the property and its guests.

Magnum is aided in his investigations by his trusted friends and fellow veterans of the Afghanistan War, Theodore "TC" Calvin (Stephen Hill), a helicopter pilot, and Orville "Rick" Wright (Zachary Knighton), a former Marine and nightclub owner. The trio is also helped by a tech-savvy ally, Julie Higgins (Perdita Weeks), who is the property manager for Robin's Nest.

Magnum's investigations are frequently complicated and dangerous, drawing him into the underworld of criminals and the darker side of the island paradise. Along the way, he must also navigate his complicated relationship with Juliett Higgins, who often proves to be a thorn in his side but whom he also harbors feelings for.

Throughout the series, Magnum engages in a variety of cases ranging from solving murders, uncovering corporate espionage, rescuing kidnap victims, and stopping terrorist plots. The show combines action, drama, humor, and romance, making it appealing to a wide range of viewers.

One of the show's strengths is its beautiful setting in Hawaii, which provides a stunning backdrop for the characters' adventures. The show often showcases the island's natural beauty, including its famous beaches, lush forests, and stunning sunsets.

Another standout aspect of the show is its attention to detail in terms of its portrayal of military life and culture. Magnum's experiences as a former Navy SEAL and his time in Afghanistan are frequently explored throughout the series, providing viewers with a unique insight into the challenges and hardships faced by members of the military.

Jay Hernandez delivers a fantastic performance as the titular character, bringing a modern edge to Magnum while still paying homage to the iconic portrayal by Tom Selleck in the original series. The chemistry between Hernandez and his co-stars further adds to the show's appeal, making the ensemble cast one of the strongest aspects of the series.

Overall, Magnum P.I. is a thrilling and entertaining crime drama that combines action, drama, and humor in equal measure. Its stunning setting, attention to detail, and fantastic performances by the cast make it a must-watch series for fans of the genre.

Magnum P.I. is a series that is currently running and has 5 seasons (96 episodes). The series first aired on September 24, 2018.
