Ep 1. The (Short) Adventures of Pete & Pete

In the first episode of The Adventures of Pete & Pete season 1 titled "The (Short) Adventures of Pete & Pete", we are introduced to two brothers with the same name, Pete Wrigley, who live in the fictional town of Wellsville. The brothers spend the rest of the day trying to complete the challenge, but it seems impossible. However, their luck changes when they meet a girl named Ellen, who helps them solve the puzzle. They successfully complete the challenge and receive their jawbreakers from Mr. Tastee.

The second adventure of the episode involves the brothers trying to break a record for the most number of times saying the word "weak." The current record holder is Artie, a strongman who lives in town. The brothers and their friends spend the day trying to say "weak" as many times as possible, but they can't seem to beat Artie's record.

At the end of the day, the brothers realize that their obsession with breaking the record has caused them to become weak in other areas of their lives. They decide to go back to being themselves and stop trying to be something they're not.

Throughout the episode, we are introduced to the quirky characters that populate Wellsville. We meet Ellen, the girl who helps the brothers with their challenge, as well as their dad, Don Wrigley, who runs a metal detector rental business out of their garage. We also meet a number of other memorable characters, including a girl who can't pronounce her own name, and a man who wears a suit made entirely of tattoo ink.

"The (Short) Adventures of Pete & Pete" sets the tone for the rest of the series, showcasing the brothers' unique bond and their willingness to take on any challenge, no matter how ridiculous. The episode also highlights the show's quirky humor and offbeat sensibility, making it clear that The Adventures of Pete & Pete will be a one-of-a-kind viewing experience.
