The Colbert Report, hosted by Stephen Colbert, was a satirical news and political commentary show that aired on Comedy Central from 2005 to 2014. The show was set up as a parody of conservative news programs such as The O'Reilly Factor, with Colbert portraying a fictionalized version of himself as a faux-conservative political pundit.

Each episode of the show typically consisted of a monologue by Colbert, in which he would deliver humorous commentary on the day's news stories, often taking a conservative perspective. This would be followed by a series of segments and guest interviews, in which Colbert would continue to skewer politicians, media figures, and other public figures.

One of the defining features of The Colbert Report was its use of "truthiness," a concept invented by Colbert to describe the idea of truth being based on gut instincts rather than objective facts. Colbert often used this idea to mock politicians and media figures who he believed were using falsehoods to manipulate the public.

The show also had several recurring segments, such as "The Word," in which Colbert would take a particular word or phrase and spin it into a humorous commentary on current events. Another popular segment was "Better Know a District," in which Colbert would interview a member of Congress and ask them absurd or provocative questions.

Throughout its run, The Colbert Report was known for its biting satire and fearless approach to political comedy. Colbert and his team of writers were not afraid to take on even the most controversial topics, and their willingness to expose hypocrisy and challenge authority made the show a favorite among many viewers.

Despite its success, The Colbert Report came to an end in 2014, as Colbert left the show to take over as host of The Late Show on CBS. However, its legacy lives on, with many fans still tuning in to old episodes and enjoying the show's unique blend of humor and political commentary.

The Colbert Report is a series that is currently running and has 9 seasons (1288 episodes). The series first aired on October 17, 2005.
