Ep 8. The Kremps

The Goldbergs is a comedy series about a family living in the 1980s. The show follows the daily life of the Goldberg family, consisting of the parents, Murray and Beverly, and their three children: Adam, Erica, and Barry.

Season 1 episode 8 of The Goldbergs is titled "The Kremps" and revolves around a new family that moves into the neighborhood. The Kremps are a wealthy, sophisticated family who quickly become the envy of the Goldbergs. The father, Mr. Kremp, is a successful businessman, the mother, Mrs. Kremp, is a stay-at-home mom, and their two children, Rebecca and Larry, are well-mannered and academically gifted.

The episode begins with the Goldbergs learning about the Kremps moving in next door. Beverly, who is always eager to impress others, immediately sets out to make a good impression on the new neighbors. She prepares a fancy meal, complete with expensive wine, and invites the Kremps over for dinner.

The Kremps arrive and Beverly is thrilled to show off her culinary skills, but things quickly take a turn for the worse. Larry Kremp, who is the same age as Adam Goldberg, turns out to be a strange and socially awkward kid, much to Adam's dismay. Meanwhile, Murray and Mr. Kremp have trouble finding things to talk about, and Mrs. Kremp makes snide comments about the Goldbergs' outdated decor.

Despite the awkwardness, Beverly refuses to give up on her quest to impress the Kremps. She decides to throw a sophisticated dinner party, complete with a fancy dress code and a harp player. However, her plan backfires when Larry decides to wear a ridiculous outfit that he claims is "formal wear."

Throughout the episode, the relationship between the Kremps and the Goldbergs becomes increasingly strained. Although Erica is initially attracted to the Kremps' sophistication and wealth, she eventually realizes that their lifestyle is not for her. Meanwhile, Murray becomes jealous of Mr. Kremp's success and starts to question his own choices in life.

In the end, the two families come to a truce of sorts, but it is clear that they will never be close friends. The episode ends with Beverly realizing that she doesn't need to impress anyone and that her family is more important than keeping up with the Joneses.
